Borg Timeline
Early 21st century- The Borg assimilate Voyager VI, which was thought to have gone through a black hole.
2063- The Borg travel back in time and attack the Phoenix, the first warp capable ship on Earth.
Late 23rd century- The Borg attack and assimilate the El-Aurian home world. The El-Aurians are driven too near-extinction and are scattered throughout the galaxy.
2356- The Borg assimilate a Federation exploration vessel, called the Raven, which was traveling through the Delta Quadrant.
2364- The Borg begin to remove Romulan and Federation outpost along the Neutral Zone, causing conflicts between the Romulan Star Empire and the Federation.
2365- The entity Q places the Enterprise-D in a path of a Borg vessel 7,000 light years from Federation space. Upon getting back, thanks to Q, the Federation begins planning for an imminent invasion.
2366- The Borg arrive in Federation space months before scheduled. The Borg assimilates a colony on Jouret IV. The Borg destroy the USS Lalo and assimilates Jean-Luc Picard of the Enterprise-D, transforming him into Locutus of the Borg. Starfleet masses a defense fleet of forty ships at Wolf 359. All but one of those vessels are destroyed. Eleven thousand lives are lost. Finally, Enterprise-D personal capture Locutus and use his link to destroy the Borg ship.
2368- A Borg scout ship crashes in the Argolis Cluster. All but one drone is destroyed. A drone designated Third of Five is the lone survivor. Third of Five, nicknamed Hugh, is taken aboard the Enterprise-D and nursed back to health. Enterprise-D personnel devise a plan to incorporate an invasive program, a “disease” into Hugh's programming, which theoretically would destroy the Borg collective. The plan is vetoed by Captain Picard as corrupt. Instead, Hugh is returned to the collective as an individual
2369- Hugh’s individuality spreads throughout the collective. Without the voices of the collective, the Borg are unable to function. Some Borg shut down. Others starve to death, now faced with the need to consume food.
2369- Data’s ‘brother’, the
android Lore, discovers a Borg ship left adrift. He becomes their leader, and
adopts the title of "the One." Armed now with ships of a new configuration, and
transwarp conduits, the Borg attack an outpost on Ohniaka III, a Federation
outpost with no strategic value. The Enterprise-D arrives at the outpost late to
save the 274 officers assigned there. The Borg ship escapes. The Enterprise-D is
eventually able to find the ship again. Two Borg are beamed aboard the
Enterprise as a distraction to allow the Borg ship to escape through a transwarp
conduit. One is killed. Crosis, the other, is captured. While held in the
Enterprise-D's brig, Crosis persuades Lieutenant Commander Data, the brother of
Lore, to join with the Borg. Data and Crosis steal a shuttlecraft, and take it
through a transwarp conduit, with the intent of going to a Borg compound. The
Enterprise-D follows. The crew is swiftly captured upon arriving at the
compound. While being held, the crew are able to access Data's ethics program.
Data is then able to deactivate Lore.
2372- The Borg attack Earth again. The cube is destroyed by the Enterprise-E, but not before releasing a sphere-shaped escape pod. It opens a temporal wake, and travels back to the year 2063, where it tries to assimilate a more vulnerable 21st century. The Enterprise-E follows the sphere, though, and it is destroyed. However, several Borg, including the queen, are able to beam over to the ship and begin to assimilate the crew. Several crewmembers become aware of the Queen. She, and the rest of the Borg drones on the Enterprise-E, are destroyed when Lieutenant Commander Data punctures the plasma coolant tanks.
2372-While assimilating other species, the Borg find a species, Species 8472, that can not be assimilated. Species 8472 interprets the attempt of assimilation as an act of war, and begin to invade the Borg realm. In the resultant battles, millions of drones are terminated, thousands of Borg ships are destroyed, and hundreds of planets are ravished. A vessel from the, designated Voyager, offers its assistance. After hearing the terms of Captain Kathryn Janeway, the commander of the ship, the collective accepts. An odd holographic projection, which is their doctor, devises a plan to destroy Species 8472 at the cellular level. The plan is successful- a great victory for the collective. A drone, designated Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01, is temporarily designated Speaker for the Borg. She is disconnected from the collective. This drone now functions as an individual.
